Introduction of Ichalkaranji Textile C.E.T.P.

Ichalkaranji is known as the Manchester of Maharashtra.. Textile industry has played an important role in the growth of the city. It houses a number of small and medium scale textile units, which are export oriented. Ichalkaranji Textile Common Effluent Treatment Plant Ltd (ICH-CETP) has cluster of 62 processes and 122 sizing units , these are involved in activities like bleaching , dyeing printing and finishing of cotton , synthetic and blended fabrics.

It is feasible technically as well as commercial for individual units to have their own Effluent Treatment Planets to achieve the desired MPCB/CPCB disposal norms. Therefore these industrial units decided to form CETP organization through ITDC (Ichalkaranji Textile Development Cluster). Ichalkaranji Textile Development Cluster (ITDC), a company , incorporated under the companies Act, 1956 , is a special purpose Vehicle promoted by Ichalkaranji Municipal Council along with Ichalkaranji Co-operative Industrial Estate , Laxmi Cp-operative Industrial Estate , Parvati Industries Estate and DKTE’s Textile and Engineering Institute to undertake infrastructure development project under the IIUS. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry , Government of India on 8th April ,. 2005 and ITDX proceeded for construction of 12 MLD CETP on 15.06.2006 at S. No.610 A of Ichalkaranji as per the various approvals received from the concerned authorities . The plant is under commissioning since June 2011. The treated water is disposed off in Kala Nalla.

Ichalkaranji Textile Development Cluster (ITDC) , a company , incorporated under the companies Act, 1956 , is a Special purpose vehicle promoted by Ichalkarannji Municipal Council along with Ichalkaranji Co-operative Industrial Estate , Laxmi Co-operative Industrial Estate , Parvati Industrial Estate and DKTE’s Textile and Engineering Institute to undertake infrastructure development project under the IIUS . The main objects of SPV companies are:

  • To form a Textile Cluster , a local agglomeration of small , medium and large textile and ancillary enterprises , which are engaged in production marketing range of related and complementary products and services.
  • To provide adequate water supply, roads drainage system , power facilities , common infrastructure facilities.
  • To develop markets , raw material bank, common processing center industrial training center , common facility center, communication center etc.
  • To provide facilities for quality improvement , common testing facilities , research and development.
  • To provide fire-fighting facilities , common effluent treatment plant and to promote and develop critical infrastructure facilities for textile trade commerce and industry.
